In September 2015, 193 countries came together to ratify a set of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to serve as a roadmap towards a more sustainable future for the world.

Scana actively uses this road map to fight for a more sustainable planet and has therefore selected four goals to focus on. Among others, Scana has selected goal number five “gender equality”. To state this Scana has proudly decided to support Médecins Sans Frontières’ (MSF) important work in Sierra Leone.

What happens in Sierra Leone?
Kenama is the third largest city in Sierra Leone. Kenama was hardest hit by the Ebola outbreak and several health workers lost their lives. MSF now works in two districts, Kenema and Tonkolili, providing medical care and supporting initiatives to strengthen the health system.

MSF builds hospitals in Sierra Leone to reduce the high maternal and child mortality rates in the country, as well as help build the poor health system.

Scana supports this specific project and sees the importance of opening new hospitals in the area.
